Loading mulch on the truck with a 3 yard bucket wasn't working well. The first load went partly on the tool box and partly beyond the back of the truck. Both had to be shoveled into the truck. The second load went better due to putting a tarp over the cab and toolbox. Very little missed the back. Some ended up over the cab but pulling the tarp back easily got that back over the toolbox. It was some work pulling the tarp back further to get the half yard or so of mulch off the toolbox. At home the tarp was too deep so hard to get out from the pile. For the third load I moved the tarp up a bit.
Loading the third load was going well. I had almost got the pile off the toolbox. I gave one last hard pull but unfortunately the pile moved and the tarp let loose. I went flying off the back of the truck. It was a long way down from the top of the pile and it was a bit like leaping off. I landed hard on my left side with my thigh taking the worst of the fall.
Initially I got up and thought nothing of the fall. It seemed a bit comical. A few hours later swelling became severe and very painful. I got x-rays and there was nothing broken. The photo is a few days later of my severly swollen and now bruised upper thigh were I landed on my wallet and cell phone in the pants side pocket. The swelling starts just below the hip and my knee is just below the photo. This is not yet peak bruising.
